For Love and Money, the "Love" Part

The Dream

Like so many Americans these days, we made the move away from the big city to acreage adjoining a rural community. Animals peacefully grazing the property were an important part of the vision for our new surrounding.
This was the background for the beginning of our love affair with an animal as yet unknown to us, the Alpaca.
I had read an article in the Sunday paper about a woman raising alpacas. This caught my attention and I began my research on the internet. Soon our weekends were occupied with visits to alpaca ranches throughout northern California and Oregon. We also attended regional alpaca shows in Canby and Eugene, Oregon.
We were hooked, and in love with these gentle creatures...but what about the money part?
