For Love and Money, the "Money" Part

Frequently in life the love part is easier than the money part.
Renate and I spent the next several weeks attending alpaca seminars and reviewing literature made available from the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA) including financial projections. We liked what we saw. Alpaca ownership made sense to us in relation to our goals.
We explained our understanding of a typical business to our financial manager. He was delighted by the prospect of an investment that was under our direct control, had significant tax advantages, and was independent of fluctuations in the stock and bond markets.
At the conclusion of our listening, reading, and consulting we purchased our first alpacas. What was it that convinced us that acquiring alpacas made both short and long term dollars and sense?
