Our newest yarn from the 2009 shearing - all Grade 2 (Baby) under 22 microns. Each skein weighs 2.3 oz. The fawn on the left is a combination of fawn and white alpacas, blended with 10% bamboo. The dark grey is a blend of black and white alpacas and blended with 10% bamboo for a very soft handle.

This yarn is a pleasure to work with. Each skein sells for $12 individually. Try it out with this very good deal - you'll like it!

Cassini and Cassidy's fleeces blended together with 10% Tussah Silk. This is grade 2 (baby) 20.7 micron yarn, 110 yards, sport weight. Each skein weighs about 1.8 oz. 6 stitches = 1", sz 8 needle.

Oh my - this is yummy! Superfine alpaca blended with 40% cotton, very soft to the touch. 110 yards, each skein averages 1.3 oz. #7 needles 4 stitches = 1".

Hand dyed in purple, green, light blue and corral. Because the alpaca/cotton blend takes the dye differently, there is a slight variegation.

Many visitors to the ranch who happen to be knitters are telling us how much they LOVE the many natural colors of the alpacas - and then they buy the purple yarn once they get to the ranch store!!

Consequently, some of our yarn is dyed. We use commercial dyes as well as food dyes. In addition to white, fawn lends itself very nicely to dying, as does light grey.

Baby Alpaca - Prinz and Emerson (worsted)

We combined the white fleece from Prinz and the black fleece from Emerson (both first shearing, 20 and 21 micron) to get this rich grey color. Each skein is 2.3 oz / 66 gr.

Oh Baby - Ruffo (sport weight)

Dimensions: 110 yds

Heavenly soft Royal Alpaca, 17.9 micron, spun from light fawn Ruffo's first shearing in 2009. Each ball is 110 yds and weighs 2.1 oz / 58 grams. 6 stitches = 1" on a size 8 needle.

Colors are variegated olive (3) - sold out - and a muted variegated taupy maroon. This yarn and a light fawn/black lace weight combination was used in the hat and neck warmer.
  


Baby Alpaca - Cass/Chaska (worsted)

We had white Cass and medium fawn Chaska blended together, resulting in a taupe, almost light rose grey, heathered yarn with a nice shine. This is their first shearing. Each skein weighs 2.5 oz / 70 grams. Six stitches = 1" size 8 needle. Worsted weight. .

Heavenly soft Royal Alpaca, 18 micron, spun from white Chasqui's first shearing in 2009. Each ball is 110 yds and weighs 1.5 oz / 42 grams. 8 stitches = 1" on a size 6 needle.

This yarn is perfect for baby items - or treat yourself to the softest scarf or shawl you've ever owned.

Bulky Hat and Scarf

The hat and scarf combo were created from one skein of Bulky White Alpaca Yarn blended with handpainted Bamboo. The shown model is sold, but another one without beads is available. Scarf was knitted with a size 13 needle and the hat was crocheted. The scarf is 5" wide and 76" long, excluding the fringe. Hat size is large.

Modeled by Brandon (8) and handknitted with Oregon grown alpaca yarn, this very cozy hat is a generous size L. It is slightly felted to prevent any breezes coming through. The grey is grade 2 yarn from Midnight Madness' black fleece, blended with 30% 21 micron colored merino wool noils. The light fawn color is knitted with yarn from Kristele's 2008 fleece.

Scarf - Baby Alpaca - Machine knit

Machine knit of Oregon grown Baby Alpaca, these scarves are a pleasure to wear. Each scarf is 8" wide and 52" long. Originally white fleece, the blue is dyed using food coloring.

Hat - Pink with Banana Silk stripe - Adult - One sits fits most

I used Misti Baby Alpaca yarn for this hat (the pink is not a baby pink) and added a stripe of banana silk yarn. Banana silk is spun from banana tree fibers which are refined and processed. Most banana silk yarn is from Asia. The fibers are spun into yarn and hand dyed by women's groups in Nepal, providing additional income for their families.

This is a lightweight hat, weighing 1.6 oz.

Because the cotton takes dye differently than alpaca, the result is a slight variegation. This is yarn from Phedra's fleece, blended with 40% cotton. A lightweight hat (1.7 oz) with a very soft feel.

Created from our yearling's first shearing, grade 1 (royal) - the very best. This light weight hat weighs only 1.3 oz but will keep you warm.

The grey is a combinaton of white and black animals and the medium fawn is a blend of white and dark fawn.

Brandon, with the help of Tanner, is also showing off a white scarf, created by Alan Monie, Cedar Glen Alpacas, on his knitting machine. This comfy scarf is available in pink, olive green and light turquoise for $39.

Alpaca Rug fawn or brown

Hand loomed in West Texas by experienced weavers of belly and leg fiber from our own alpacas, available in light fawn and brown. The fleece is spun around a jute core which gives the rug years of durability and also has the advantage of being reversible. It resists fading and wear and provides a certain amount of sound proofing.

This unique hand woven rug, with European-like texture, shows occasional unevenness and nubs which gives each rug a one of a kind look.

Vacuum your rug with a smooth surface attachment on a frequent basis. There will be a slight fiber loss each time, but it is so minimal as to be unnoticeable. Spots are easily removed with mild soap and lukewarm water. You may shampoo the entire surface with a mild detergent or have it professionally dry cleaned. For your rug and your safety, a quality foam or rubber pad is recommended.
